Day 46 Chesterton to South Haven

Distance Biked Today: 80.5 miles

Time Spent Biking: 5:08

Avg Speed: 15.6 mph

Max speed: 27.8 mph

Total Distance Biked: 2986 miles

Today is another exciting day. We will be entering Michigan and I will get to see some family tonight in South Haven. So I had to hurry to get here soon as possible

We basically took over this campground. It has been sold out, so other campers were curious why half of a loop (20+ campsites) were vacant. They were even more curious when our semi's came though and us cyclists. It really is quite the sight.

Every tends to set up there tent right next to the trucks and really really close together. I walked a little further and had my own campsite plus to empty ones on both sides. Some people had 10 tents on a site!

The first twenty miles around Michigan City were gorgeous. Ed picked a good route that brought us right next to the lake. I was feeling good, so I biked with Nick Ellens for a while. He's fast so I impressed that I kept pace with him.

I stopped and had a hamburger for lunch at Gersch's Hamburgers in Stevensville. I was only going to eat half and save the other half, but I ate the whole 1/2 of beef. Opps. All that food makes me really tired.

My mom, Tina, and Claire (cyclist Toni's wife) met us and cheered us on in South Haven. After I changed I went and cheered on the rest of the cyclists that were still coming in.

Then my brother and his pregnant wife came. We decided to go out to eat at Clementines. It was relaxing to talk and be around people I've known for more than a month and a half.

I've been told that Sherman's in South Haven has the best ice cream, so I had to check this out. Look at that cone! and that's only a single. Can you imagine the damage that a triple would do! I had Merrien County Berry, just like in Huntington.
