Today we crossed into Canada. I wasn't sure how smooth it was going to go, but it went great thanks to wonderful planning and organization by Ed the tour manager. We all biked to Marine City by 9:45 and then took a ferry ride across to the Canadian side and went through customs there.
Behind me is the ferry that we boarded. It also ferried all the support vehichles (motorhomes, vans, and semis) across. It didn't seem like a semi could fit on board but it all worked out.
We went through customs just showing our passports and being checked off a list showing that we were pre-cleared. After customs we were warmly welcomed by many Canadians and lots of food. The Canadians on the trip have been anxiously waiting getting to Canada, and this shows why. Just look at all the people in the video below.
I am final sweep today along with the Meyerink's, Bonner's and Brower's. So after we milled around eating and drinking and socializing, we went to a cafe and had lunch as we waited for all the cyclist to leave.
Tonight we're staying at a ice arena. There was more food when we got there including yellow watermelon. It tastes the same, just looks different.
They had a potluck for us tonight, so my dinner plate consisted of just a little bit of everything so I could try it all.
I found a great place to setup my hammock tonight.
The sunset was absolutely beautiful. Check out the pictures link for more pictures of it.
