What a day! After the first hour of biking we had a stop at a local dairy farm for refreshments and a tour. This was a huge farm of 1700 cows. I've been to farms before but not one this big. The cows were milked through this huge circular milker. They walk in and are attached while the carousel continues to move. Then after a couple minutes the same cow walks out. The milker is used all day except for a couple hours when it is sanitized.
Down the road, the road turned as we saw the snake river canyon. It was beautiful and almost an oasis in the middle of this desert. The landscape has been dry and sage brush, but now as we looked down we saw a huge river and a lush landscape.
I stopped later and watched a crop duster flying around. He came with probably fifteen feet of power lines. I couldn't believe the pilot could control the plane that well. I took a video and I'll try to put it online eventually.
As I continued on, our route was close by the canyon, so I stopped lots of times trying to take in it's beauty.
A local church provided lunch and refreshments for us. It was great to talk to them and hear about the area. Thanks for lunch! They had beautiful flowers also.
Many of us then took a detour to Shoshone Falls. I biked there (down several hundred feet, which I had to bike back up). But the falls were beautiful. But I'll let you see for yourself.
It was a long day. And it does get really hot out. I drink and eat so much I can't believe. Plus, I try to eat before I'm hungry and drink before I'm thirsty.
